Ethan and Theresa were on their way to being happily married when it was revealed that his paternity was revealed as a result of an email that came from Theresa's computer. After initially leaving Theresa after a series of lies, Ethan decided that he still wanted to be with Theresa.

After years of dodging Theresa's attemps at winning him away from Gwen, Theresa gave him up for good and moved on with Jared Casey. Ethan again couldn't keep himself away from Theresa, which resulted in Gwen finally ending their marriage and leaving town.
